Socially just pedagogies in changing times

This article reports on Australian research that developed the concept of 'productive pedagogies', a model that is deemed to be socially just and appropriate for the contemporary post-modern globalised world. The model extends the modernist one of 'authentic pedagogy' developed in the USA and sits as a counter to the inauthentic post-modernist model of pedagogy framed by neo-liberal and new public management forms of accountability in some educational systems. The article begins from the assumption that the quality of pedagogies is a social justice issue and documents the lack of intellectual demand, connectedness and working with difference in the pedagogies mapped in the 1000 classrooms observed, while also noting the high degree of social support teachers offered students. These lacks can be seen to reproduce inequalities through schooling, rather than challenge them. Teacher care and support are necessary, but not sufficient for socially just pedagogies, which also need to be backed by redistributive socially just policies and some professional trust of teachers.  相似文献

在《被压迫者教育学》中,保罗·弗莱雷区分了两种教育观念:灌输式教育和提问式教育。灌输式教育中的师生关系建立在主客体二元对立的哲学基础上,实质上是一种压迫关系;提问式教育中的师生关系建立在主体间性的理论基础上,实质上是一种对话关系。对于前者弗莱雷给予了强烈批判,因为压迫式师生关系使师生双方都变得非人性化了,而后者是他大力倡导的。因为对话式师生关系本身作为一种教育活动,具有重要的现实教育价值,是实现教育人性化的关键,是教育应有的价值追求。  相似文献   

Multicultural Curriculum and MSW Students' Attitudes about Race and Diversity

Methods of incorporating culturally competent practice and social justice curricula often are addressed in a required course or across courses using an infusion model. This research explored multicultural curricula and MSW students' attitudes about race and diversity. Data were collected from 297 MSW students enrolled at two universities. Multivariate analysis of variance revealed significant differences between students in programs with required multicultural coursework and those utilizing an infusion model, with respect to attitudes toward African Americans but not on measures of diversity or social equality and justice. The results indicate the differential outcomes based on curriculum models and support the need for further research in this area.  相似文献
